Local Drop-Off & Pick-Up

If you are local to the Washington, DC metro area, you may choose to drop off and pick up your knives at our location in Alexandria, VA.

  1. Order services. Place your order for sharpening services using the online system and select shipping method of "Local Drop-off & Pick-up" at no charge.

  2. Package your knives. Please wash your knives thoroughly before dropping off. Wrap your knives in newspaper or similar, then secure the entire bundle with rubber band or tape - PLEASE DO NOT PUT TAPE ON THE BLADES.  You may also want to put the knife bundle in a bag, but please do not use a box as drop-off space is limited. Include a copy of your order (emailed to you after checkout) or just write your name and order number on your package. See example photos below. 

  3. Drop off your knives. Our residential location is 7 East Glendale Avenue in Alexandria, VA, near the intersection of Commonwealth Avenue and Braddock Road. Place your knives in the black plastic bin near the firewood stack in the driveway.

  4. Pick up your knives. We will notify you by email when your knives are ready. Your knives will be placed in the same bin used for drop-off.

Note: PKS is primarily a mail-order service conducted from a residence. PKS is not a storefront and does not maintain regular business hours. However, we offer unattended drop-off and pick-up as a courtesy to our local customers to save them shipping charges. Drop-off and pick-up is only available via the dropbox process outlined above. Please do not attempt to drop-off or pick-up knives at the door of the home.
